In the first Destiny, the activities with the most enticing rewards required the most legwork to initiate. Because Nightfall Strikes and raids lacked any sort of matchmaking, dedicated players had to gather teammates through outside means such as Reddit or DestinyLFG if they wanted to take part in them. The logic behind the omission of matchmaking was that Nightfalls and raids were simply too difficult for any three or six random schlubs to finish one without everyone coordinating and communicating through voice chat.
So all I can do is play the single Nightfall strike over and over and over. But it's taking Bungie 21 minutes to match me up with two other people right now. Sam : I'm day drinking right now.
Destiny is an online -only multiplayer first-person shooter video game developed by Bungie and published by Activision. Destiny marked Bungie's first new console franchise since the Halo series, and it was the first game in a ten-year agreement between Bungie and Activision. Set in a " mythic science fiction " world, the game features a multiplayer "shared-world" environment with elements of role-playing games.
Similarly, they have quite a bit of experience with creating huge sprawling, sci-fi worlds. While many games use a centralized server with a player limit to support multiplayer experiences, Bungie is going a different direction with Destiny. Using these mesh networks, players will always have companions to interact with regardless of where they are in the world of Destiny. In an ideal world, players will never encounter an area that feels empty.
During the Destiny 2 gameplay reveal event in May, game director Luke Smith said 50 percent of players in Destiny 1 completed a raid. Bungie is looking to remedy that with what they call Guided Games. Guided Games is a new feature found in Destiny 2 designed to make it easier for solo players to experience the raid content found in Destiny 2.
Destiny 2 improves upon its predecessor in many ways. In short, it offers a more satisfying, shared-world experience. Building upon that, the game's developer Bungie is today launching the Guided Games beta.
The release of Destiny 2: Forsaken will bring about some key changes to matchmaking — including Guided Games — as well as a shakeup to the clan rewards structure. Bungie has revealed a couple of decent upgrades the matchmaking and Guided Games experience in Destiny 2 will be getting with Forsaken. There are some exceptions to this, like lopsided PvP matches, or ones that ended with a mercy rule.

If you're planning on playing the beta yourself, expect to see a longer Mercy rule timer for Crucible matches, improvements to competitive matchmaking, reduced Super charge times, increased Power Ammo drops in PvE, and more. The changes from the blog are listed below, and most of them are fairly welcome. Matchmaking times will be shorter, with less emphasis on Skill.
